Vancouver, BC - Is it music? Is it drama? Where did it come from? And where is it going next? If you love experimental audio (or if you're curious), come to SFU Harbour Centre December 17th at 7:30pm to hear and see two of the most famous practitioners in this field.

Boston- and New York-based Helen Thorington is the executive producer of New Radio & Performing Arts, a series CJSF Radio airs every Tuesday at 10 am. She has commissioned and distributed more than 300 works of audio art from all over the world. Her own works include "North Country," and “Parrot Talk." She is also a pioneer in internet performance art, with live collaborations among artists in different parts of the globe. For more information on Thorington and her work visit http://new-radio.org/helen/index.html

Hildegard Westerkamp is arguably Vancouver's most famous sound artist, or sound ecologist as she is sometimes called. She taught Acoustic
Communication for a decade at SFU, and is a founding member of the World Forum for Acoustic Ecology. Among her most popular works among locals are "Harbour Symphony" and "Kits Beach." For a statement by Westerkamp and some audio visit http://membres.lycos.fr/musicand/PIONEERS/WESTERK/WESTERK.htm
