TALK with the ARTIST

"Visit Palestine" is a 54 minute documentary made in 2000 when Clafant visited a communitty art center (much like The Point in the Bronx), in Bethlehem, West Bank. This center is in a Palestinian refugee camp. This film and a 16 minute intro narrate a 10-day visit of a group of Americans to Bethlehem in 2000, sponsored by M.A.D.R.E to educate Americans on this concflict. The intro places the story in the context of Chalfant's personal connection to Israel.

Join The POINT in this opportunity to meet Henry Chalfant and experience his journey as a photogrphar and film maker of conscience.

Henry Chalfant's "Art is Not a Crime" documents 25 years of graffiti art all over New York City capturing neighborhood kids in b-boy poses, DJs in park jams,
and other scenes from New York City's Hip-Hop culture. These photos tell the story of how kids with little in the way of manufactured goods and organized activities were able to improvise with a boundless capacity for invention and create a new youth culture that continues to reverberate around the world.

This exhibition was part of the Imagine festival of art and ideas during the time of the Republican convention
