Visiting Assistant Professor - Photography

Brown University Department of Visual Art seeks a Visiting Assistant Professor to teach digital photography. Appointment will be for 1 year with possibility for one year renewal.

The range of courses must address black and white and color photography with emphasis on digital applications. Candidates must demonstrate proficiency in all areas of Photoshop and other related digital applications, and include knowledge of various inkjet printers, inks, and CIS systems, and be able to maintain these systems. Candidates must also be able to teach darkroom techniques if needed.

In addition to conducting research the successful candidate will contribute to the undergraduate curriculum and fulfill normal service duties appropriate to the position.

Requirements:Applicants must have a strong visual art/humanities background with an abiding interest in new technologies. An extensive knowledge of current issues in contemporary photography is required. Candidates must have completed an MFA degree and have a minimum of two years full-time teaching experience at the college level beyond graduate school. Candidates should have a national exhibition record.

Starting Date:Appointment to begin July 1, 2009.
