Swerve Festival Announces Call for Entries

Swerve Festival is a new annual festival dedicated to celebrating West Coast creative culture and its community inspired by art, film, music and action sports. This three-day celebration will be held in Los Angeles to bring together this community of innovators and thinkers and to spotlight some of the most exciting work to come out of these creative disciplines. Swerve programming will include film screenings of independent feature and short films, musicvideos, live music performances and original art installations organized by Beautiful Losers co-curator Aaron Rose. Throughout the weekend, do-it-yourself workshops will provide hands-on filmmaking, meet-the-artist sessions and CreateAskate, a nonprofit national educational curriculum teaching participants how to make their own skateboards.

The festival is directed by Jonathan Wells, founder and former Festival Director of the acclaimed international film festival RESFEST. The festival will open Sept. 28 at the Barnsdall Art Park in Hollywood.

As part of the film competition, Swerve is seeking innovative narrative and documentary short and feature films, animation and design films and music videos. Audience and Jury awards will be given in multiple categories.

The early deadline for submissions is July 15, 2007; late deadline is August 6, 2007.
