Until 15/12/16
This month's travail around the expanding field of internet video has revealed the superb experimental work 'Autocidal Afterimage' by Toronto-based artist Colin Rosati. Exploring John Berger’s idea of flattened media forms, 'AAI' plays with ideas of online video framing, fragmentation, and casual directionless surfing. Exploring the role of the artist as a filter, Rosati employs the metadata generated through users, networks and infrastructures to frame and organize information that privileges the often-privatized usage of online services.

The Projection Room at The Unstitute is a strategic step towards altering the relationship between artist and audience via the medium of the Website. We began by creating a pseudo-space for showing experimental videos; works are selected on the basis of their ability to provoke interesting reactions or engagements with the viewer, whether in a positive or negative fashion.
