FULL-TIME FACULTY POSITION IN PRINTMEDIA

The Department of Printmedia at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago (SAIC) invites applications for a full-time, tenured or tenure-track faculty position, beginning August 2017. The department seeks candidates with an accomplished studio practice that complements the department's commitment to a broad use and interpretation of contemporary printmedia and related disciplines. The ideal candidate is capable of teaching across the present curriculum and contributing to its development, and is well versed in contemporary theoretical and critical issues within contemporary art. Rank and salary are competitive with peer institutions and are commensurate with level of practice, scholarship, and current academic research, extent of teaching experience, and current professional standing. The ideal candidate will contribute to the diversity of the School by bringing a perspective, way of thinking, and/or a unique set of experiences that expand the intellectual conversations and artistic practice in the field.

PROGRAM PROFILE
The Department of Printmedia offers an interdisciplinary exploration of printmaking that prizes experimentation and emphasizes the research and discovery needed to bring ideas to fruition. Printmedia students use a broad range of tools and methods including intaglio, relief, screenprinting, lithography, artists books, offset and digital production with an emphasis on individual practice, research, and historical precedents. The department has five full-time faculty, 20 dedicated Master of Fine Arts (MFA) students, and over 700 undergraduate enrollments in approximately 60 courses each year. RESPONSIBILITIES
The successful candidate will teach undergraduate and graduate students in an interdisciplinary art school, advise graduate students, and maintain an active professional practice. Faculty are expected to contribute to the development of the department and provide service to the school. The successful candidate must be capable of performing administrative duties, and provide vision and direction as the department chair on a rotating basis.

QUALIFICATIONS
MFA or equivalent terminal degree preferred. A minimum of 3 years college-level teaching experience required. The ideal candidate is a dynamic artist with a nationally/internationally recognized practice, and a significant exhibition record or accomplishments within the candidate’s field of cultural production.
