The National Juried Exhibition at the Art Institute and Gallery of Salisbury, MD is long-held tradition featuring the best artwork by artists from across the country. The theme for 2016 is “Tradition & Innovation”. Open to all artists aged 18 or older and all media. This year's juror, Eric Key, is the Director of the University of Maryland University College Arts Program and has more than two decades of distinguished experience in museum administration and exhibition development. Eric Key is the director of the UMUC Arts Program and has more than two decades of distinguished experience in museum administration and exhibition development. In his most recent position as Executive Director of the Kansas African American Museum, he raised the museum’s visibility and viability as a regional arts and cultural heritage center, expanding its focus beyond that of a historical archive to incorporate a vibrant visual arts collection. Under his leadership, the organization’s annual operating budget grew from $32,000 to $450,000. He also strengthened the museum’s educational programs and initiated plans to build a new state-of-the-art facility in the heart of Witchita’s museum district. Prior to joining the Kansas African American Museum, Mr. Key held positions at the Black Academy of Arts and Letters; Prairie View A&M University; and the African American Museum, Dallas, Texas, among others. Mr. Key graduated from Hampton University with a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in museum studies.
