LPM Live Performers Meeting 2016 Amsterdam

The seventeenth edition of LPM Live Performers Meeting begins on May 12 in Amsterdam, in the spaces of Tolhuistuin, in the renewed and vibrant district of Amsterdam-Noord and will be the first of a cicle which foresees the production of two more editions in the next two years in the dutch capital.
LPM offers the unique opportunity to experience 3 days of audiovisual performances, VJing, workshops, panel discussion, product showcases presented by VJs, audiovisual artists, new media professionals and thinkers from all around the world.

The aim of LPM is to promote and spread the free movement of ideas, knowledge, techniques and languages related to LIVE VIDEO, the real focus of the Meeting, through a spectacular, innovative and engaging program.

The Meeting aims also to promote transnational movement and exchange of ideas, artworks and artists. That’s why all funds recovered by LPM are invested to support innovative research and experimentation in the field of live visuals with the latest technologies.

Thanks to the contribution of the European Community, in the latest years the LPM project was brought aboard, to produce many foreign editions as in Minsk (BY),Mexico City (MEX),Cape Town (SA) and Eindhoven (NL) in addition to those held Rome (IT). Since 2004, we hosted more than 4600 artists, 2625 amongst performances, workshops and showcases,recording an overall amount of 41 participant countries and welcome more than 1.500.000 visitors.

LPM – Live Performers Meeting is part of the cooperation project AVNode | LPM 2015> 2018 co-funded by the Creative Europe culture programme of the European Union, involving 14 events a year for three years, carried out by 13 partners from 12 countries: Austria, Belgium, Czech Czech, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Netherlands, Poland, Spain, Turkey and United Kingdom.

The call for application to participate has been opened from February to late April and the program foresees the participation of 326 artists, professionals and video passionate from 39 countries presenting 157 projects who will offer an unrepeatable and unique event.

We’ll meet artist coming from Argentina, Austria, Belarus, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Czech Republic, Colombia, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Mexico, Netherlands, Norway, Peru, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Russian Federation, Serbia, Slovenia, Spain, South Africa, South Korea, Switzerland, Turkey, Ukraine, United Kingdom, United States, Uruguay, Vietnam

Program foresees 157 activities and aims at exploring different themes through new audiovisual languages, techniques and technologies, i.e. workshops related to Live-Coding, LED mapping and stage design for events, gestural control of music and bodily musical performance; presentations of platforms, tools, locals vjs communities from 5 different continents, a conference on AV Audience Development; video installations related to politics and cultural ensemble, interactive cameras catching and transforming bodies and faces in animated gif, personal and meta data tracing, and many more...

AV AD CONFERENCE | May 13 - 17.00 - 18.30
As part of the Large Cooperation Scale Project LPM 2015 > 2018, LPM propose a Conference dedicated to the theme of AV Audience Development: International partners are invited to describe and to identify the best strategies to help European artists and professionals to reach as many audience as possible across Europe as to extend to underneath groups the access to more exposed cultural projects.

Despite the lack of a strict curatorial selection, the program related to the av performances and to the vjset comes from the 3 main theme "nerd", "queer" and "techno", as the 3 night parties that will burn the dancefloor during the night:

Friday and Saturday LPM night events are in collaboration with two of the most representative local crews: Spellboud, the Queer Underground Dance Party, and InDeep'n'Dance, the most famous Techno Tuesday night of Amsterdam.
