Frieze Art Fair NY Hack#1 by Marjan Moghaddam

Using 14 second long Instagram video Installations, I created a series of hacked Frieze Art Fair NY 2016 interventions exploring mobile and web-based mixed reality and augmented reality possibilities and transgressions. The first one is from the exterior of the Fair on Randall’s island with a balloon sculpture by Alex De Corte. In these internet-based interventions, I employ video that I shot with my phone, as a context for the staging of alternate mixed realities using performance capture and my #digitalbodies. I Mocapped the moves at home with a Kinect, using #dancingbaby as a performative construct, and modeled a CG figure loosely suggestive of the sculpture, adding what I call animated digital pastiche, as a way of extending the dialog of the digital into mixed reality compositions. For these hacks, I will be using various figures and performances from my personal libraries mixed into videos of Frieze to question the boundaries of physically-based art fairs, given the nature of mixed reality and the nature of transgression in the age of mixed reality hacks. The finished hacks are posted to Instagram and various other social platforms as Post Internet Art.
