Memories of Air
This introduction is equally an instruction:
Exhale completely and hold your breath on empty lungs.
When absolutely essential, fill your lungs and mind with air simultaneously.
Contemplate: what is air to you?
Memories of Air explores our relationship to air from an experiential perspective. The objective facts of air one may hold to be true are subjectively void of importance upon our last breath.. Air is the primary medium of life and survival - for nearly all mammals and plenty of other creatures. With this simple and obvious knowledge in mind how conscious are we about air in everyday life? Is the air in your lungs of optimal quality, and will the future condition of air be in our favor?

Nandi Nobell is a Stockholm-based artist and designer. He took his MFA at Konstfack 2012 with his finial project Entrance Not for Everybody. A piece which was a research into how created experiences can be woven into life in order to offer everyday magic for randomly chosen individuals. This was achieved - in part - through experiments with visualisation within hypnotic states of mind - as an exhibition ground beyond the physical realm. Incorporated was also the planned establishing of an individual’s future memories - based on psychological studies of mnemonics - an additional exploration of the mind as the ultimate gallery for experience.
Prior to Konstfack, Nandi studied fashion design at Central Saint Martins College of Arts and Design in London (2004- 2008), and he worked for Jean-Paul Gaultier in Paris (2009).

Nandi Nobells works often have a strong focus on props in the creation of inner experiences. His vantage point is that most individuals need the tangible in order to accept something new. The more intricate and overwhelming the props are - the greater the possibility for the individual to embrace the novel - the consciousness need excuses for expansion.
Play and seriousness always amalgamate through Nandi’s works, which are composed of equal part exploration and joy of sharing experiences that have impacted himself in a positive manner. He suggests that when one knows how fast and far the consciousness can move, it becomes impossible not to romanticise the future - the vision always has a central role to play in all Nandi creates.

The existence of one’s consciousness is the single thing we individually can be certain of.
