As its fourth exhibition since opening, ART 836 / G Gallery has an honor to present HERE installation by renown artists Jon Thomson and Alison Craighead.

London-based artists Jon Thomson and Alison Craighead originally conceived Here in 2011 as a virtual image for The Mini Museum of XXI Century Arts, an online digital media platform. The concept was to mark the distance of the work from itself along a North/South axis. The physical sculpture, fabricated to UK road standards two years later, marks the 24,859 mile distance around the earth and back (i.e. the longitudinal diameter of Earth). The current placement of this sculpture is particularly relevant in its current location on the Greenwich Meridian, which is located at 0 degrees.

David Auerbach, in his essay for their exhibition at Carroll/Fletcher Gallery, said that their workoverlays two rationally incommensurable spheres: the quotidian and the global. This overlay, into which we have slipped so easily in the last few decades, is the nexus of Jon Thomson and Alison Craighead’s art, a confrontation with the tantalising impossibility of seeing the entire world at once clearly and distinctly.

Further readings of the artwork are left open to viewers.

Art Refrigeration
Refrigeration or cool storage of art is a gentle method of art preservation. It has minimum adverse effects on the taste, texture, and the aesthetic value of art.

Art 836/G is a cool place to experiment with what a gallery might be and might do. it is a tool to make things happen and work out ideas.

Art836/G is cold storing:

- works that are at the crossroads of media, bio and urban arts with a strong current of interdisciplinary approach;

- works that combine mediums ranging from various technological platforms and materials to living nature;

- works that are pushing the boundaries of visual, auditory, and conceptual abstraction.

Situated in the [hacklab01] hackerspace at AKC Medika, the gallery is open daily from 6pm to 10 pm.
