Immersive Media Entertainment, Research, Science & Arts (IMERSA) presents the 2016 Summit themed Exploring the Immersive Universe. Call Deadline: Extended to January 10, 2016 The developments in technology in recent years serves as a catalyst of expansion taking place in immersive media innovation. This call is specific to two sessions; a panel entitled, Organizations Leading the Way in Immersive Media and speakers session entitled, Innovations in Storytelling. Organizations Leading the Way in Immersive Media In today’s environment, nonprofits organizations are leading the way in immersive art exploration and innovation. Organizations leaders share their experiences within the nonprofit sector of technology and art. Innovations in Storytelling Artists and Technologists who are pushing the innovation of storytelling through technology and immersive experience will share their experiences and recent projects. The Innovations in Storytelling session is open to any expression of the immersive experiences including large screen, fulldome, VR, installation, 3D sound, gaming, and projection mapping. From large scale 360-degree 3D stereoscopic theaters to DIY low cost photogrammetry rigs to innovative production techniques or projects - we want you to share your experience! Open Call: If you have an interesting presentation idea, you are invited to submit an application for our Call for Presentations. By submitting an idea, you will help shape the future of the immersive industry. If selected as a conference speaker, you will gain visibility in the industry, receive a discounted rate to the conference, and contribute to the advancement of your profession. March 16 - 20, 2016 Recent developments in immersive media technology serves as a catalyst of expansion taking place in immersive media. Proposed sessions are open to any expression of the immersive experiences including large screen, fulldome (digital dome), Virtual Reality (VR), and Augmented Reality (AR). We want you to share your experience! These presentations are an opportunity to share your innovative work with leaders in immersive industry at one leading conferences on immersive media. The IMERSA Summit is in its seventh year with an attendance of nearly 250 industry leaders annually. IMERSA is a non-profit, professional trade association with a vision to support an international community of professionals who create large-scale immersive digital experiences in achieving the full potential of their chosen medium. IMERSA’s mission is to advance the art and technology of immersive digital experiences. The Evaluation Process Deadline for submissions is January 4, 2016 Notification of acceptance by January 18, 2016 Members of the IMERSA Summit Committee evaluate proposals based on the following criteria: overall quality, relevance to the industry, well-defined focus within the summit structure, practical applications of material, timeliness of topic and speakers qualifications. To be considered for the IMERSA Summit, your proposal must be educational in nature - sales presentations will not be accepted. Your material should be original and relevant. For recurring presenters, your presentation must not repeat previous years information unless the focus is on new research and information. Proposal Guidelines Your proposal should address one of the educational tracks in the world of immersive media. Presentations should be 90 minutes in length including a brief session for Q&A. Proposals should not consist of more than five speakers, including the moderator. Speaker Discount In appreciation for your willingness to present at the upcoming IMERSA 2016 Summit, we have established the following discount registration policy. IMERSA Summit 2016 registration fee, full registration and admission to all activities, will be reduced to $500 for all speakers, session leaders panelists and performers. A $300 discount from full price. For those not planning to attend the entire conference, you will receive one day pass for you and your spouse/partner for the day of the presentation. He graduated from The Evergreen State College with a BA in Media Production and subsequently completed an MFA in Electronic Arts from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute. Bach created MORPHOS Artist in Residence program to assist artists in understanding and exploring the medium of immersive digital interactive spaces. He served as Principal Investigator for a DoD grant developing interactivity for fulldome (which resulted in the open source dome server software, vDome) and as research associate for an NSF grant developing tools and content for fulldome environments. He writes and maintains the Emerging Technology Arts blog. Bach is also internationally known for his digital art which is primarily in immersive and interactive media. Bach’s artistic expertise in experimental media won him awards from the Santa Fe Arts Commission, New Mexico Film Visions, and New Mexico Art in Public Spaces.
