Department: Art And Design Position Summary: The Department of Art and Design at Monmouth University seeks an artist and educator to lead the development and oversight of the 3D and sculpture and/or ceramic curriculum in collaboration with our already outstanding programs in studio art and design. S/he should be familiar with traditional sculptural materials and processes, and able to incorporate digital and electronic technologies for imaging and fabrication in 3-D based artistic inquiries. Ideal candidates will bring a broad vision of contemporary visual art, and make use of contemporary technologies, particularly 3D printing and the opportunities for collaboration and intellectual inquiry within the department and across the University. Monmouth University's Center for the Arts provides the technological and administrative infrastructure to coordinate art, design, animation, interactive and performing arts so that students can develop their talents and skills to meet the emerging world of 21st century Art. Candidates must be able to teach all undergraduate levels of sculpture, foundation level courses in 3-D design and emerging technology. Other responsibilities include University/School/Department committee work and advising. Normal teaching load is two studio courses per semester, and in addition, the faculty member will be responsible for planning, maintenance, and operation of the sculpture area and 3D classrooms/labs and equipment. As a student-centered university, we seek candidates who can demonstrate enthusiasm and ability for student advisement and career mentoring. Candidates should be actively practicing artists with growing national exposure and a substantial knowledge of historical and current theoretical discourse in 3-dimensional art and the visual arts in general with a genuine commitment to excellence in teaching and professional practice. This position holds the rank of Assistant Professor, is an anticipated opening is for the 2016-2017 academic year and is a tenure-track appointment. Salary is competitive and commensurate with experience. Required Degree, License or Certifications: Master's degree Required Skills or Software: Excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills Required Years of Experience: 1 Other Requirements: Master’s of Fine Arts (MFA ) in studio art or an equivalent doctoral degree. One year of college-level teaching experience. National exhibition record. Active interest, application and exploration of both traditional and emerging technologies using three-dimensional space. Must have expertise in 3D printing, digital fabrication and related technologies. Preferred Qualifications: Experience with coordinating foundation-level 2D and 3D courses.
