Call for Fellows

VAN ALEN INSTITUTE NEW YORK PRIZE FELLOWSHIP
for experimental practice and research in public architecture

APPLICATIONS ARE DUE MAY 9TH!

Early to mid-career practitioners and scholars from the design and planning disciplines, and other fields in the arts, humanities and
sciences are invited to apply.

Fellows are given an opportunity to pursue advanced independent research and to generate public projects on the most significant issues shaping the design and use of public space today. Projects can range across media, temporalities, dimensions and scales in the form of exhibitions, installations, performances, symposia and other formats. The Institute seeks critical and creative projects that approach architecture as a cultural practice with great public consequence, and that engage public audiences in imaginative and productive ways.

Up to five fellowships for periods of three months each will be granted in 2007-2008. Fellowships include a stipend, project support, individual office/studio space at the Institute, and the opportunity to present and publish work. All applications must be received by May 9, 2007.
