FACULTY POSITION IN NEW MEDIA

PROGRAM: The Oxbow School, located in Napa, California, is a semester program in the visual arts for high school juniors, seniors, and postgraduate students from public and independent schools nation-wide. The sixteen-week, program encourages motivated students to pursue a serious interest in art, while meeting and furthering their high school diploma requirements. Oxbow's interdisciplinary curriculum integrates artistic and academic disciplines to emphasize the connections in art and everyday life. All full-time positions include:
-Academic Advising
-Supervising student residential life
-Coaching a physical activity two sessions per week
-Serving on faculty committees

POSITION DESCRIPTION:
A Full-time position as the New Media Teacher for The Oxbow School. The Oxbow approach to art instruction emphasizes the teaching of technique in the service of creative inquiry. This position requires the ability to maintain the hardware and software in a small, Macintosh-based, networked digital lab, and experience in a wide range of digital media including, but not limited to the following:

Final Cut Pro
Adobe Photoshop CS2
Adobe Illustrator
Adobe InDesign
Sound Studio
iLife (iTunes, iMovie, iPhoto, GarageBand, iWeb)
Dreamweaver MX
Flash MX

RESPONSIBILITIES:
Curriculum development The faculty will work as a group to develop a curriculum based on the school’s unique mission.
Teaching/Working with Visiting Artists Faculty are expected to work closely with Visiting Artists, and to lead off-campus day trips.
Member of the Oxbow Community The residential nature of The Oxbow School requires that faculty participate as full members of the Oxbow community, supervising students while school is in session.
Administrative In addition to teaching, Oxbow faculty members manage administrative tasks necessary for the smooth and efficient functioning of the program.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Studio experience in digital techniques, and video production. Entry-level experience in teaching studio arts at the high school or college level.
- Experience in interdisciplinary teaching preferred.
- Experience as a member of faculty/administration at a boarding school preferred.
- Experience in outdoor education (hiking, biking, kayaking, yoga, aerobics) preferred.

SALARY: Commensurate with experience, plus housing and benefits.
