Job Summary: Assistant Professor in Electronic Media Arts Design (eMAD). School of Art and Art History, University of Denver. Tenure-track. MFA or equivalent required. We seek an artist/scholar who is critically, theoretically and creatively engaged in the practices and discourses of New Media, with an emphasis in Digital Video and related domains. The successful candidate will demonstrate the potential for excellent teaching and for a national and international scope of practice. Ability to teach at multiple levels and a strong interest in collaborative and/or transdisciplinary teaching is desirable. Some of the responsibilities of the position include teaching five 10-week classes per year in a program that serves undergraduate majors in eMAD, Art, and the interdisciplinary Digital Media Studies program, as well as MFA students in eMAD and MA students in DMS; mentoring and advising undergraduate and graduate students; and actively participating with 14 other faculty members (4 in eMAD) in ongoing curricular development of our BA, BFA, and MFA programs. Classes are taught in two well-equipped Mac studios with up to fifteen students per class. Begin fall 2007. For more information about the program, see www.du.edu/art.
Preferred Qualifications: Teaching and professional experience, strength in theory, active practice in emerging forms. Ability to teach at multiple levels, digital video/motion graphics/time-based media, exhibition record and a strong interest in collaborative and/or transdisciplinary teaching.
Minimum Qualifications: These qualifications refer to education and/or experience. MFA or equivalent required at time of appointment. A demonstrated potential for excellent teaching and for a national and international scope of practice with an emphasis in Digital Video and related domains.
