About the show:
Islands is a video installation by Yoko Nogami and
Britzel Vasquez which explores the issues on identity,
cultural displacement, gender stereo type. The title
Islands cleverly ties the origins of both artists,
Japan and Puerto Rico, effectively proposing the
audience with a thought, deriving from issues both
artists experienced through their residency in the
mainland United States, from a perspective of an
outsider.
