Eavesdrop - Loose Talk at Eyebeam

June 23, 2005
7:30 PM
540 W. 21st St.

Please join us for an investigative evening with masters of eavesdropping!

Hear how online conversations are snooped for financial gain; the covert
ways in which our government employs espionage; the 'best of' overheard
conversations from the city that never sleeps; the new methods used by
private investigators and how eavesdropping fuels art.

This event is $10 for the public and free for Eyebeam members.

Panelists include:
- Artist Julia Scher
- NY Times Bestseller James Bamford
- OverheardinNewYork.com Editor Michael Malice
- Private Investigator Giles Miller
- Programmer & Hacker Michael Frumin
- Moderator Jonah Peretti, Eyebeam Director of R&D

Drinks to loosen lips and spiced hors d'ouvres to curry favors will be
served prior to the panel. The evening will conclude with a special
performance.

The term eavesdropping originated from people hiding out in the eaves of
houses to listen in on other people's private conversations. Since then
eavesdropping venues include telephone lines, email, instant messaging, and
any other method of communication considered private.
