74 nights - work in progress now online

74 nights was inspired by a simple question; What is it that you like about Los Angeles? I cannot conclusively explain to anyone why I am so perversely fascinated with LA. There is something charming about the horizontal sprawling delusion that characterizes the city, as well as the fact that it manages to feel so empty despite there being more than 15 million people in the Greater Los Angeles area.

With the above in mind, I have set out to catalogue my perception and experience on the street in LA this summer through photography and the collection and scanning of the occasional scrap of text. This work will eventually be assembled into a larger meditation on Los Angeles constructed in the spirit of Walter Benjamin's Passagen-Werk, but for the time being (summer 2005) the chronologically indexed images will be available for viewing online. New galleries of images will be added bi-weekly or so.
