Stony Brook University - Senior Staff Assistant for Curriculum

Stony Brook University is seeking a Senior Staff Assistant for Curriculum to provide support to the Assistant Dean for Curriculum in the College of Arts and Sciences. Duties include: Assistant Editor of the Undergraduate Bulletin and in doing so, will assume major responsibility for coordination, maintenance, publication, and distribution of the online and bound editions of the Undergraduate Bulletin and other publications; responsible for the design, maintenance, and all technical aspects of the College of Arts and Sciences Web site as well as the online Bulletin; support the Assistant Dean for Curriculum in the administration of the curriculum committee, enrollment management, general education requirements, and reconciliation of a $2M instructional budget; serve as the Dean's office property control and inventory support staff; complete goal-oriented assignments from the Assistant Dean with autonomy and minimal supervision, and will represent the Assistant Dean in appropriate meetings and correspondence. Required: Bachelor's degree. A specific discipline is not required but is preferred in an area that emphasizes excellent writing and communication skills. In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a combination of directly related full-time experience with progressively increasing responsibilities and education totaling four years will be considered. Three years of experience, preferably in a higher education setting. Experience monitoring the progress and status of multiple projects and the ability to prioritize and meet deadlines. Excellent writing, interpersonal, and organizational skills. High proficiency in office software (MS Office or similar, especially Excel or similar). High proficiency on both Windows and Macintosh platforms. Preferred: Master's degree. Fluency with desktop publishing software (Quark or similar), academic records software (PeopleSoft or similar), and Web design software and/or programming (HTML and XML among others).
