As part of Queens International 2004 at QUEENS MUSEUM OF ART, Hector Canong=
e has developed Ciudad Transmobil, a Web-based project designed to integrat=
e wireless devices, the Internet, and the participation of the public to ge=
nerate narratives direct, real-time observations and experiences of immigra=
nts in New York City. The New Media Installation is on exhibition until Feb=
ruary 6, 2005 and the Web component is located at www.ciudadtransmobil.net



Canonge will give a demonstration and host a panel discussion on the potent=
ial role of new communication technologies, such as camera mobile phones an=
d PDA's, in the development of alternative participatory narratives. Guest =
new media artists Jonah Brucker-Cohen (WIFI-HOG) and Katherine Moriwaki (Os=
cillating Windows) will also present and talk about their respective works.=
Anthony Townsend, Board of Directors at NYCWireless will lead and moderat=
e the dialogue among artists and participant members of the audience.



The event will take place on Saturday, January 22, 2005 from 3:00 to 5:00 P=
