Coldlight - Needs your participation

Coldlight develops and implements installation based interactive artworks. Currently its main project, 'Ready in an Hour', needs your participation.

Ready in an Hour is an interactive, gallery based digital installation. It's purpose is to attempt to encourage disparate, anonymous participants to share their memories and emotions with regard to their treasured photographs.

It will be the viewpoint of this work that personal photography of this personal kind, due to the direct and unambiguous nature of the photographic image, can only contain a limited emotional appeal beyond those directly connected with the subject matter of the photograph.

It is the ultimate goal of the artwork by the process outlined below to firstly break down the idea of the image by having participant's describe their feelings towards such pictures. This described text is then to be used in the gallery aspect of the installation. 'Words about images' are re-constructed via an interactive process into 'images created from words', a new aesthetic being created live in the gallery space.

It is the ambition of the work to remove any boundaries and preconceptions that may exist which prevent our empathic response to a photographic image. A photograph of a house is clearly a specific house, one with meaning only to a few, however the word 'house' has the ability to have emotional connection to a great deal more people.
