old souls

funny question from me:
what is an old soul?
what does that mean to you?

i dunno…people tend to say this as a kind of
catch-all way of describing any refinement of soul (i
gag using the word "refinemnt")…

what was the context?

me, i'd rather have a young soul—i'd rather i knew
absoplutely nothing (and who says i do know anything?)

in my childhood, people would occassionally tell me that I had an "old
soul". evidentally, my mannerisms did not match my age. i was
responsible, serious, perceptive, etc …

if one were to take reincarnation literally then an "old soul" is one
that has been returning to earth for a thousand years … bringing with
it the wisdom it has acquired over all that time.

yeah, i heard that one tooo…but, older, i'm
sometimes told that i'm a bit childlike (not childish,
child-like, filled with a lot of fascination, i
suppose)—-

but 'old' and 'young' are just feeble methods of
emotional cartography, methinks—ultimately they lose
their meaning…
