wearable technology - a sampler <your heart on my sleeve>

< your heart on my sleeve >
An exploration in tactile, aesthetic & emotive computing in the public
domain
SIGGRAPH 2004 Cyberfashion Show (11th August: Los Angeles, California
USA).

design: Annie Lovejoy (artist / researcher)
technology: Cliff Randell (University of Bristol Wearable Computing
Group)

Another persons heart rate becomes visually illuminated within a highly
tactile & crafted design.
Data from a Polar heart rate monitor is communicated wirelessly to the
jacket demonstrating
how contextual information can be explicitly presented to enhance
social interaction. This
responsive visualisation of data becomes an aesthetic experience beyond
the user / wearer.

The technical design is based on the Bristol Cyberjacket
(http://wearables.cs.bris.ac.uk)
which can sense location, activity and the well being of the user, as
well as connecting
with other users and the Internet.
