12 Scholarships in International New Media Program

12 Scholarships in International Art Program

Transart Institute announced today that 12 scholarships amounting to $40,000 have become available to students of their low-residency Master of Fine Arts program for the academic year 2006/7. Eight scholarships of $2,500 each will go to students of merit and four scholarships of $5,000 are available to candidates from East Europe and new EU-member countries.

Transart Institute's low-residency MFA in New Media program offers an opportunity for working professionals to further their career in a highly individualized format. The unique transdisciplinary program creates the possibility of interaction and cooperation between a multitude of genres. Four semesters of independent study, one-on-one with self-chosen faculty and mentors are interspersed with three intensive summer sessions in Linz, Austria. The program has students and faculty from Europe, Asia and both Americas.

Each student creates his/her own educational experience by executing individually tailored art and research projects. The residencies provide common ground with a tightly interwoven pattern of lectures, critiques, seminars and creative workshops.

Balancing work, family and jobs is one of the most difficult challenges artists face. If students can establish a good, solid artistic praxis with the support of the program in their own environment, chances are the praxis will continue after the program. Students can come back after graduating to get a creative surge, receive feedback on their work and keep their praxis and contacts alive.

Open House

Events are scheduled to take place February 4, 2006 at Point B in Brooklyn, NY and on February 18, 2006 at the Open Culture Center in Linz, Austria. Prospective students can meet mentors and faculty of Transart Institute, talk to current students, attend artist talks and have their application portfolios reviewed.
