Electronic Design - University of Colorado, Denver

The Visual Arts Department, in the College of Arts and Media at the University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center (UCDHSC), is seeking a full-time, tenure-track faculty member in Electronic Design. Review of applications will begin on 1/18/06 and continue until position is filled. Applications that are received by January 18th will be reviewed for a possible interview at CAA.


QUALIFICATIONS:
Required
1.MFA or Terminal Degree in Design;
2.Expertise in Typography and layout;
3.Expertise in Design Fundamentals as applied to one or more of the following areas of specialization: graphic/multimedia/Web design, interactive design and motion graphics;
4.Active engagement in Design theory, history and criticism;
5.Knowledge of conceptual and design-based principles as applied to graphic and experimental design;
6.Working knowledge of applications as applied to graphic/multimedia/Web design, interactive design and motion graphics.
7.An ability to teach and work with a diverse student body

Preferred
1.2-3 years teaching experience beyond graduate school;
2.2-3 years professional experience in the field of Design;
3.Scholarly or creative research in one of the following areas of specialization: Information Design, Publication Design, Professional Practices, Design History, Environmental Design, Social Design;
4.Knowledge in human-centered information and interactivity design.

The University of Colorado at Denver and Health Sciences Center is part of a three-university system located on three campuses. The Downtown Denver Campus is Colorado’s only public university located in downtown Denver. Students majoring in Fine Arts select programs in art history, drawing, painting, photography, sculpture, multimedia and 3-D animation. These emphasis areas provide students with a comprehensive knowledge of, and direct experience with the various media—as well as an understanding of art theory, knowledge of the methods and materials of art making, and a critical analysis of the art object in historical perspectives. Fine Arts students have access to the Photography lab (with black & white, color, non-silver and digital capabilities), Sculpture lab (with bronze casting and woodworking facilities), and Drawing & Painting studios. Digital facilities include non-linear editing suites, and an audio production/post-production classroom, in addition to studio/office spaces for the Visual Arts faculty.
