if you are experiencing difficulties.

Simon will be talking to director Taylor Nuttall about the recent project
'endless_endless' featured as part of edit / copy / paste on the
www.unencoded.co.uk web site.

A feature of edit / copy / paste project is that the original source code
for the project is available to others - in the case of endless_endless al
the source files
contain the PHP and Java code required to create and present an
'endless_endless' nonstream work.

============================

endless_endless

we were interested in how
slow and fragmented the
experience of watching a film
online could be

the RTSP protocol attempts
to maintain the linear,
continuous, time structure
of film and tv over the
asynchronous time
structure of the internet

endless_endless [rfc2326]
is an attempt to 'stream' a
film using the conventional,
almost 'old-school', HTTP
protocol

each time the film's URL is
accessed, a new frame from
the film is displayed [hit on
'reload' or the 'frame' link
to retrieve the next frame]

the asynchronous pattern of
HTTP interferes with the
linear film-time

the more people access the
film at the same time, the
more fragmented the film
structure will become -
the discontinuous spatial
structure of the web
disrupting the continuous
temporal structure of
film time

the image itself is
constructed from the text
of the Request For
original outline of the
RTSP protocol

the letters of the text are
coloured according to the
pixels of the source image
