Digital Assistant/Technician
SUNY Stony Brook, Department of Art:

Salary range: $50-60K, commensurate with experience.

The Department of Art at Stony Brook University seeks to hire a Digital Assistant /Technician whose primary duties will be to provide a wide range of hands-on classroom and laboratory assistance to faculty, staff and students and to help maintain departmental computers and related equipment resources. The successful candidate will be qualified to: trouble-shoot and maintain computers; oversee several multi-media computer labs in collaboration with the Digital Studios Director; checkout cameras and other media equipment; assist in installing equipment in student art shows; oversee and hold printing hours for departmental wide-format printers; assist faculty in using web-based and multi-media materials in teaching; update and maintain departmental web-site; and, collaborate with the Visual Resource Coordinator to establish, maintain, and use a data-base of digital resources for the department. As our facilities are constantly evolving the Digital Assistant will also be expected to engage in continual learning and professional growth and collaborate with a number of staff in various parts of the university.

Bachelors degree and expertise with digital imaging and web technologies required. Proficiency with MAC hardware and software, including image, time, and web based applications required. Excellent communication skills and two or more years experience in a related position are also required. Arts background, ability to provide MAC/multimedia support and systems administration, and additional years of related experience are preferred qualifications.
