It will be a real happening! This exhibition highlights work which was made through a performative process with media art. Artists Benton-C Bainbridge, Pat Cain, Jax Deluca & Kyle Marler, Andrew Deutsch, Colleen Keough, LoVid, and Eric Souther are featured with single channel videos, installations, and live performances.

The artists in Performing Media all were among the first artists in residence at Signal Culture in Owego, NY.Signal Culture was founded in 2012 by Jason Bernagozzi, Debora Bernagozzi, and Hank Rudolph, with the idea to create an environment where those contributing to the field of experimental media art would have time and space to make new work and to interact with one another.

The studio has both real time analog and digital image and sound processing equipment, custom made hardware and software, a variety of interactive interfaces and alternative imaging devices in a modular format – encouraging artists to play and engage with tools and with making in a real time, performative manner. The real time nature of the system means that the creation process is more physical and interactive, a performance with the tools, leading to the emergence of work and techniques which would not have been possible in a more traditional capture and edit setup.
