Artist Studios Applications - Temple Bar Gallery & Studios, Dublin, Ireland

Temple Bar Gallery & Studios is one of Ireland's leading contemporary art venues. Centrally located in Temple Bar, Dublin's designated Cultural Quarter, TBG&S is a publicly funded, not-for-profit organisation which hosts a high profile programme of Irish and international art. This programme includes the work of both established and emerging artists working in a wide range of media and has in recent years featured such artists as Katie Holten, Caroline McCarthy, Shirana Shahbazi, Walker and Walker, Dan Shipsides and Oliver Comerford. The 2004 programme included exhibitions by Jon Brunberg and Brendan Early, Malachi Farrell, Stephen Brandes and Susan McWilliam. The 2005 programme to date has featured solo shows by Mariele Neudecker and Mick O'Kelly and also includes exhibitions by Ene-Liis Semper, Mark Raidpere, Finola Jones, and Garrett Phelan.

TBG&S was established by artists in 1983 in response to the increasing demands for affordable studio spaces in Dublin city centre, a move which proved to be crucial in consolidating Temple Bar's status as Dublin's cultural quarter. In the mid-1990's a new gallery and studio complex was custom-designed for the company by leading Irish architects McCullough / Mulvin. Today the building that houses TBG&S integrates a gallery with on-street access, an impressive atrium space and 30 artists' studios. The use of these studios reflects the broad-ranging developments in contemporary practice, as artists working with photography, video, sound, sculpture, print and painting all currently studio spaces at TBG&S

A number of studio spaces become available for use over the year. We accept applications at specific times during the year.

Project Studios are available for short-term use and for varied periods - from one month to one year. Applications for project studios are assessed on the basis of a specific proposal. While welcoming projects that focus on individual practice, applications made on the basis of public projects, collaborative projects or education and community activity will also be considered. Proposals should include an outlined plan for the use of the studio over a set period of time.

Currently, the first of these studios will become available in January 2006. The closing date for receipt of applications for this round is 5.00pm Friday 20th May 2005.
