InterAccess Electronic Media Arts Centre is a not-for-profit artist-run centre that enables artists and the general public to explore the intersections of art and technology. We are currently seeking an individual to fulfil the position of Business Manager.

Summary Job Description:
The Business Manager is responsible for the day-to-day operations and administration of the organization. Overall duties include:

- Financial: upkeep of financial activity including A/P, A/R, payroll, liaising with bookkeeper and accountant, maintenance of budgets
- Business management: implementation of Executive Director's work-plan, purchasing, development of office practices and management of administrative infrastructure
- Contribution to fund-raising activities: Under the direction of the Executive Director, makes contributions to grants and fund-raising through writing and budgeting, assembly of supporting documentation
- Reports: to Executive Director, accountant and funders as necessary
- Works with the Executive Director to design and implement sponsorship activities
- Manages charitable contributions

The Business Manager reports to the Executive Director and works with all other InterAccess staff.

Skills required:
- Financial administration: including knowledge of A/R, A/P, payroll, basic accounting, budgeting and audit procedures
- Business Management: organizational management skills
- Communication: excellent communication skills, detail oriented, team player, deadline-driven
- Software: including office suites, accounting, email; ideally, experience with multiple platforms (Mac, Windows, Linux), knowledge of basic software upgrading and installation
- Basic knowledge of Canadian funding landscape for not-for-profit organizations


Responsibilities:
Financial Management
- Work with Executive Director to design and oversee all IA budgets
- Working with bookkeeper and accountant to manage financial records
- Reports monthly financial statements to the Executive Director
- Management of payroll

Fund-raising
- Under supervision of the Executive Director:
Manage fund-raising activities
Manage sponsorship activities
Manage charitable status

Administrative Management
- Working with Executive Director to design and implement business processes
- Managing physical and administrative digital infrastructure and working with contractors as needed
- Working with other members of IA team
- Working with Executive Director regarding business affairs including contracts for artists, instructors, installers, financial personnel etc.

Communication and Documentation
- Under the direction of the Executive Director, writes portions of grant applications and proposals for core funding (TAC, OAC, CC) and special projects
- Participating in weekly staff meetings
- Presents monthly status report to Executive Director for communication to the Board of Directors


HOURS AND COMPENSATION:
- Starting salary for this position is commensurate with experience
- Hours: Works 20 hours per week. Distribution of hours are flexible but usually occur within regular office hours: 10-5 pm, Tuesday through Saturday. Exceptions in working hours may occur due to exhibition openings or meetings
- Initial probation period of three months
- Overtime is handled through time in lieu.
- Initial annual vacation allowance of 2 weeks, increasing with number of years at organization
- Performance is reviewed annually
