Parsons School of Design seeks a Head Technician

Parsons School of Design, a division of New School University, is seeking a full-time Head Technician in Photography, reporting to the Director of Technical Operations in the Photography Department.. The Photography Department has 240 students in its BFA and MFA program, and, is looking to hire a proactive individual who will become integral to the day to day workings of the photography department.

Responsibilities
•Responsible for overseeing the daily workings of the darkroom, two networked computer labs and multiple shooting studios, located on the 3rd and 5th floors at 66 5th Avenue.
•Work with the faculty, students, and administration of the Department to support their photographic and digital imaging needs
•Repair and maintain RA-4 processors
•Responsible for inventory, tracking and trafficking of equipment.
•Deal directly with faculty in training students on equipment/darkroom care and maintenance
•Coordinate staff of part time technicians
•Maintain a friendly environment for students

Requirements
The ideal candidate will possess:
•Minimum of BFA or 3 years experience
•Must be available nights and weekends
•Technical knowledge of Mac and PC computers (OS X, Windows XP)
•Comprehensive experience on all film and digital formats
•Knowledge of both wet and digital processes
•Knowledge of various strobe and light equipment
•Familiarity with maintaining and repairing RA-4 processors
•Knowledge of network systems, wireless systems, and printing server software, color management
•High level of organization, efficiency and ability to pay attention to detail
•Ability to work with people in a creative environment
•Good interpersonal, oral and written skills
•Knowledge or experience in Macromedia a plus
