Call for Papers, Photo essays and Digital Art

Call for Entries:
City Without Walls Gallery is preparing its first digital art journal. The journal would be press as a CD-Rom including digital art, the documentation related with the specific exhibition showed at the gallery and with the accepted papers. For its first issue the topic is “"The True Mirror: addressing issues of identity formation,.” Mankind, being a higher order primate, possesses the power of recognition of one's reflection in a mirror. This is noted as where the process of self-awareness begins. When we look into a mirror, what do we see and how is that image defined? How do outside sources like media affect the way we perceive ourselves and shape our sense of identity? Is identity a work of self-representation and refraction? What are the social coordinates of the performative practice of identity? We are interested in the relation between image and identity, and by using the metaphor of the mirror we are looking for papers that explore the visibility of the self.
We welcome suggestions or ideas from potential contributors. Please send four one-sided, double-spaced copies of your manuscript (no more than 9,000 words, including endnotes) for consideration as well as a copy of your CV to the mailing address below and submit final versions via email attachment, preferably in Microsoft Word to [email protected]. Mark the envelope "Attention: Claudia Salamanca.” Be aware that for consideration is necessary, both the printed copies and the email with the attachment. Send your digital files on CD. Consider that optimization and performance are features considered in your submission for digital art entries. Please submit all the plugins and players that your work requires.
