Following her 2007 Yeshiva University Museum exhibition "From Darkness to Light" based on her experiences as a "disappeared" under the former dictatorship in Argentina, her subsequent escape to Israel, and her healing and recovery through total immersion into Art, Laura Murlender continues her exploration of the themes of memory, disappearance and identity.

In the new series, a subjective deconstruction reveals a complete openness towards raw materials and processes. Murlender's work interweaves dense, multilayered surfaces of oil and mixed media to mirror a deep experience of identity loss and restoration. The passages between the planes act as a resilient nexus of translation for the themes echoed in the intersection of her memories.
