chaNorth Open Studios

chaNorth, chashama's artist residency in the Hudson Valley, is holding its monthly Open Studios Event on October 15 from 2-8 p.m.
Join us for exhibition of visual work and performances by artists-in-residence. Stay and enjoy farm-fresh food, harvested by the artists at McEnroe Organic Farm, and the scenic beauty of the Hudson Valley in prime leaf-peeping season.

Located on a 5-acre estate in Pine Plains, New York, chaNorth combines live-in studios with private workspaces, shared gallery areas, a communal kitchen and a serene setting. With backgrounds in a wide-range of mediums, six artists and writers live and create during their one-month session, and present work in an Open Studios event at the end of their residency.  The communal kitchen is stocked with fresh, local organic produce and whole grains and cooperatively prepared daily meals act as the anchor of the program. Residents are asked to contribute a few hours per week working at McEnroe Organic Farm, allowing artists the opportunity to interact with the environment, the community and agricultural history of the Hudson Valley. chaNorth is managed and operated by chashama, which has supported creativity in New York City for the past 15 years by repurposing vacant properties for use by artists as galleries, performance spaces, work spaces and more.
