Chair of Broadcast Design and Motion Graphics

The Savannah College of Art and Design seeks candidates for chair of the broadcast design and motion graphics department for its Savannah and Atlanta campuses. Qualified candidates have an M.F.A., or an undergraduate degree with extensive, recognized industry experience. A strong portfolio and/or industry experience is essential. Ideal candidates can demonstrate outstanding teaching and administration experience (and will have responsibilities in both areas). Experience in diverse issues in broadcast design and motion graphics such as concept development, previsualization, cinematography, media theories, digital culture, new media and critical studies is important. Expertise in a technical environment is helpful, as many topics are presented in state-of-the-art facilities utilizing high-end workstations configured with professional software including After Effects, Premiere and other Adobe products; Animo; Macromedia Flash, Director and Dreamweaver; Alias Maya; Avid Symphony and Xpress DV, flame, combustion and smoke; Pixar's RenderMan; and Shake. In addition to administration responsibilities, chair is able to develop a student's awareness of story and concept, typography, previsualization, storyboarding, production pre-planning, teamwork for group production, and framing and timing. Chair works with faculty of diverse
professional backgrounds. Experience teaching coursework through the web is a plus.
