Assistant Teaching Professor (Full Time Position)

Digital Storytelling: Multimedia Production, emphasis on animation or game design preferred

The Digital Storytelling Program in the College of Arts and Science at the University of Missouri seeks candidates for a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor faculty position in multimedia production with an emphasis on animation or game design. Candidates will be expected to teach on a nine-month, renewable appointment in the University of Missouri’s new Digital Storytelling BA program, starting August 2015.

Based in the liberal arts and sciences, the new Digital Storytelling B.A. program emphasizes narrative, multimedia and networked communication, as well as all elements of digital production, including writing, audio and visual production, and design. Because new faculty will participate in the growth and development of the program, we are looking for applicants who have both a larger vision for the possibilities of cross-disciplinary majors and also concrete strategies to engage students who may not have a background in every area.

Qualifications: An MFA, MA or MS, or equivalent industry experience in multimedia production including audio-visual field and studio production, animation, interactive game design, or related fields. Candidates will be evaluated on their record of teaching excellence as well as on-going and projected creative projects.

Compensation is competitive for professional practice and teaching faculty positions. This position is eligible for University benefits. The University of Missouri is located in the city of Columbia, Missouri and is the flagship school of the state’s university system. Columbia is home to a thriving arts community including two film festivals (the Citizen Jane Film Festival and the True/False Film Fest).

Application screening will begin April 1, 2015 and continue until the position is filled.

The University of Missouri is committed to cultural diversity, and it is expected that successful candidate will share this commitment. The University of Missouri is an Equal Opportunity/Access/Affirmative Action/Pro Disabled & Veteran Employer.
