DESCRIPTION
The Visual Arts & Technology program at Stevens Institute of Technology invites applications for a tenure-track, open rank position, to begin fall 2015, teaching courses in Game Design. In particular, we are interested in candidates whose research and teaching push the idea of games into new territories, are committed to both creative making and a critical dialog about games and play, and whose dynamic teaching can help students succeed professionally. The ideal candidate should demonstrate an eagerness to help build a unique and cross-disciplinary program in Game Design at the undergraduate level, as well as shape our new M.A. program in Game Design. Additional preference will be given to candidates with experience in animation and modeling.

RESPONSIBILITIES
Teach courses across all levels of the undergraduate and graduate curriculum; develop new courses in the candidate’s area of expertise, especially as they overlap with other disciplines across the Institute; help students be technically, aesthetically, and creatively prepared to innovate in a variety of artistic disciplines; advise and mentor undergraduate and graduate capstone projects; maintain an active creative research agenda; and serve on program, College, and Institute service including committee work and advising.

ABOUT STEVENS
Stevens Institute of Technology, located on the Hudson River across from midtown Manhattan, is a small, selective research university with approximately 2,700 undergraduate students in 33 disciplines ranging from engineering, science, humanities and social sciences, visual art and technology, and music and technology. Housed in the College of Arts and Letters, the Visual Arts & Technology program offers a unique Bachelor of Arts degree with a focus on the intersection of technology, art, and design. A growing part of Stevens, the Visual Arts & Technology students work in tandem with programs in Music & Technology, Science and Technology Studies, and other areas across the Institute.

Located a 10-minute subway ride from New York City and a short train ride to Boston, Philadelphia, and the rest of the east coast, Stevens draws some of the most talented and gifted undergraduate students from across the globe.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
-MFA in art or design, or a terminal degree in a related field
-Demonstrable record of creative and professional achievement in the field
-Ability to teach a range of courses in Game Design at all levels, as well as develop new courses in the applicant’s area of expertise

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
-Terminal degree in Game Design or related fields
-Demonstrable college teaching effectiveness, especially including the graduate level
-Expertise in animation and modeling
-Experience with curriculum development
-Ability to teach additional courses across the art and design curriculum
-Experience mentoring in professional practices and entrepreneurship
