NOMAD UPDATE

It is a rainy morning near Port Clinton, Ohio. We are just a few
blocks from Lake Erie which we were boating on yesterday. The sky is
starting to show signs of clearing, and we are waiting to close up
shop here and move on to New York City. Home and hearth beckon (for a
short time). Our trip has been full of adventures and stories that
we will be telling you over the next few months. We will start with
a few of the notes we took at Burning Man and show you what has
become of the RV. We started with and have been driving through
middle America to various stunned responses.

The RV and BM … www.electrichands.com/experiences/bm1/idx3.htm

BM 2002- 8-29-02
This place is way cool. Joseph now sees the beauty of a bare-
breasted bicyclists while Donna has been given a fresh perspective
of the uncircumsized penis. All of the artists associated-greeters,
ticket takers, & masters & maidens-were warm & friendly. Our
neighbors were, to our left, Fred-a CA grape farmer, and Press and
Jeff. We cycled around & met Tigger & Q-both from NYC. They told us
there was an entire NY contingent here & invited us to a party.
Tigger also invited us to a "decompression" camping weekend -Columbus
Day in DE. When inquiring about setting up the satellite, we met Ron
John who was involved with media stuff & he gave the OK to set up.
Bob-right neighbor feels our of pain 9/11.
Connor offered us a shot of rum & invited us to a party. Mike gave
us some jungle juice.

Catherine-gave us each beads becuz we shared the what, where, when
calendar of events. Frank & Donna-good friends of Bob & his wife
Linda & all 4 sharing the same campground, our neighbors to the
right, allowed our diagonal neighbors, Wade & Kala, access to a
generator to charge Wade's video camera. Pres, who is here with our
new friend Fred, gave us 2 caps from his crop dusting company in CA
in exchange for our duct tape. Pres also invited us to his farm in
Fresno, CA anytime. He drew us a map & gave us all of his contact
info Fred was very helpful when painting the RV. & Pres liked
watching Fred, Joseph, & Donna's creativity come together. Pres
offered us to come to Fresno & hook-up our RV. The Critical tit ride
was absolutely empowering for everybody! We started @ Center Camp in
front of the man. & there was thousands of beautiful, tit decorated
women. Some naked, all so beautiful posing for the cameras. We took
off on our bicycles for a ride thru the entire camp, we met @ the man
& went around like in a spiral. On our journey folks were taking
photos, spraying us with water, giving us food & drinks, &
worshipping us. At the end of the ride, thousands of men were
waiting for us offering gifts of fresh fruit, nuts, chips&salsa,
vegetables, ice, water, juices, sodas, blenders full of frozen
margaritas, pina coladas, daquiris, vodka, gin, beer…Elizabeth is
the burning woman. She is also our neighbor & came here expecting at
least 2 other friends to join her, however they backed out @ the last
minute. One is now her ex-boyfriend & the other is someone from
whom she must also now distance herself. Frank, his wife Donna, Bob,
Elizabeth, Fred, Pres & Jeff all joined us for cocktails after the
Critical tit ride. Jeff, proud of turning his life around & staying
sober several years now, didnot have cocktails but was not afraid to
celebrate with us. Both Donnas passed out from too much drinking.
Joseph & Elizabeth kept the food & drinks flowing while we Donnas
caught up on our beauty rest. On the way back from the tit soiree,
we got caught in an awe inspiring dessert sand storm. It was so
great. Joseph & Donna were each wearing a sarong & we took our
sarongs off to use them as masks to protect against the sand. So we
managed to find our way home, without getting lost or losing
eachother while bike riding naked thru a dessert sandstorm-following
Joseph's lead.

Shouldn't it be spelled "kewl"? That is, if you desire to posture as
post-tweenie hopper-boppers.

What a banality-boner! Perhaps if your bland-gland didn't prevail, you might
be able to provide some insight in what is fresh about the perspective.

So there is Fred, Press, Jeff, Tigger, Ron John, Bob, Conner, Mike. Dropping
names like Tom, Dick & Harry. What incredible characterization! How
multidimensional these people have been presented!

This bit of travelogue has about as much conceptual-nutrition as a slice of
white-bread left out in the sun.

Very nice. Can't wait till you attempt to peddle
your 'blogged' mediocre life as art.

Push-button publishing for the masses.
A bit like that self-destruct kamikaze button
you're all equipped with (ego)–and what you're
running away from dealing with.

Patience wally baby, these things take time. Just a few notes while on the
road. And all nutrition is not conceptual.

I am not peddling anything as art. Art is a service, experience is a benefit,
objects are service delivery mechanisms. We provide a service of posting
notes and pictures, to be followed by stories and net.art
rituals/poems/etc. Part is documentary, part is an art service. The line
is blurred. We also produce objects to exchange for more experiences such as
these, thus leading to more notes, pictures, stories, and net.art
rituals/poems/etc.

Self publishing is a good power to have, don't you think?

Uh. no.
Art is not digging ditches.

Nonsense. Teenage diaries are not 'art'.
Go to blogger. 'Sharing experiences' is not art either.

No, it isn't.

Between hanging the picture of your car, your house,
and your dog on the internet and art? No, thank you.

It's not power. Self-publishing becomes useful only in the hands
of those who DO have power. The rest is drivel.

You and your 'services' are 'things'. This is inappropriately flat.

So you say.

Again, ypu're projecting idiotik misunderstanding + failure to grasp
'precision'. Only under 'precision' one may have many layered stories.

Because mailing lists are not appropriate medium for art,
and most of the time I find 'announcements' to be out of place.
Most, not all.

No, baby. What I write is not an opinion. And please avoid ascribing
'morality' to what I am doing. I am ethical, which is a high degree of
precision + consciousness + it is a very precise discerning state.
Abr. that shall become obvious to you at the time of your own death.

What ABOUt swords? What do you *understand* about swords?

I will and I do. It's called empathy. Communication mode propre
which over-arches language + renders it kaput.

There is no 'political / economic' power.
I don't mean the latter either.
I mean power. Very precis.

Never said it was. But I am telling a many layered story, that takes a long
time to build. I am not looking for precision - that is your bag. I look for
the results of many layers of transparencies - which you will not understand
for now.

How about swords? You are not going to understand all my language in one fell

NOMAD UPDATE

Would you condemn me, if you were here, as I tell you that I feel I am
watching a floorshow, reducing these fat women of various ethnic
backgrounds to mere character actors in a performance for my secret
amusement? I don't know if I am to blame; they seem to perform as
characters for each other; talking gossip in loud exaggerated voices
as they wash and fold laundry in this laundry room slash imitation
greenhouse.

Donna is oblivious, engrossed in reading the paper, except for the
interruptions from me to review and contribute to these words you are
reading. This missive is a two-person "we" voice speaking as a
one-person "me" voice called Joseph.

The Latin music in the background distracts me just enough to mention
it here, without interrupting the flow of thoughts and words. Whereas
the vending game beside me makes me ponder how anyone could use a
metal hook to capture plastic-coated, small toys mounted on thin
cardboard. I calculate the odds of winning are greater from the Lotto
ticket-dispensing machine next to the game.

So, we have moved our studio to the South Bronx, called SoBro by the
local merchants eager to create a trendy neighborhood so they can cash
in. Since we are going to travel, there is no need to maintain an
expensive Manhattan address. It was a tough move, now completed so we
can resume communicating with the world.

So, on the way back from Burning Man we went to a farm in Iowa, the
one Khrushchev visited, the one advertised at www.farmresort.com.

Now switch to Donna's one-voice that is two:

We met Elizabeth Garst (Liz) thru the Internet. Her friend, Allen
Bukoff, posted the invitation to her annual potluck dinner & barn
dance on the fluxus art mailing list to which both Joseph & I
subscribe to keep us informed & in touch with the fluxus artists.

We decided to go to the dinner/barn dance because it was en route for
our return to New York. We missed the dinner because Nebraska's high
winds and rough roads caused us (and other drivers-as evidenced by
many discarded treads) to have a tire blow out. We had to get new
tires before leaving Nebraska and had to stay the night. Thus we were
a day late to the party. When we finally arrived around 9pm, after
driving thru some of those dark country roads with which Joseph is
luckily quite familiar - we first came upon the resort House/Bed &
Breakfast. Here sat a beautiful home that appeared totally empty &
wide open. We walked in & looked around. I felt a little
apprehensive about being a stranger, on someone else's property, at
night. But I figured what the hell

Survival. It is a question I ask myself, the dual voice that is we,
yet Joseph. Not like a Hamlet joint, you know a doobie. Rhymes with
'to be'. Groovy. Sue me.

But the mind, the spirit of our body, is the master? Does it ride a
pink pony? Can we choose to say it and it are one? Like a fat
Buddha, lounging with my beads and wine, I shake a foot and think these
things (I shake the foot I cannot get into the cross legged position that
will not get me into the state of mind but is the state of mind).

So I ponder know|create rituals on paper, wood, and bodies (which are
one and two?) Now you know where I go for now, though now is
relative as time could be like a fishing line on a spool, going from past to
present.
