Design Foundations Educator

Position title:
Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, Foundations Studies Coordinator.

Qualifications:
Masters degree or higher in Industrial Design, Interior Design, Visual Communication Design, or related design degree area. Applicants should have a minimum of three years of design-related teaching experience. Professional experience in a design discipline is preferred. Evidence of strong commitment to foundations level teaching and curriculum development is required. Interest and experience in multi-disciplinary design teaching is preferred.

Responsibilities:
Position requires coordination of all introductory first year and basic design second year foundations courses, including supervision of Teaching Associates and Lecturers. Teaching in foundations courses will be required. Faculty member may also teach in the undergraduate Industrial Design, Interior Design, or Visual Communication Design programs, and/or the graduate program, as appropriate. Faculty member will also be expected to actively pursue research opportunities in their area of interest, participate in student advising activities, and provide service at the Department, College, and University levels.

Appointment:
Regular nine-month tenure track appointment for Assistant Professor or Associate Professor, depending on qualifications.

Salary:
Competitive, commensurate with experience.

The Department of Industrial, Interior and Visual Communication Design grants Bachelor of Science in Design degrees for its three undergraduate majors, as well as Masters of Arts and Masters of Fine Arts degrees at the graduate level.
