The American Arts Incubator is an international arts exchange program administered by ZERO1 in partnership with the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs. What is the Project?
ZERO1 is seeking an individual to work with us to use online, blog, and social media tools to help engage a global audience in the stories of the American Arts Incubator and bridge various aspects of the incubator program into concise, compelling, multimedia articles that advance the missions of the American Arts Incubator program and ZERO1.

This part-time contractual position reports to the ZERO1 American Arts Incubator Program Manager, and is based at the ZERO1 Garage in San Jose, CA (439 1st Street, San Jose, CA 95113), with some ability to work remotely. A weekly average of 8-12 hours is expected, based on program needs, with a minimum of one day each week present at the ZERO1 Garage in San Jose, CA.

The total stipend available for this position is $2,500 with no fringe benefits. The amount is prorated equally throughout the contract period. We are also open to working with universities to help provide the necessary paperwork for academic credit.

Key Objectives
• Gather content, edit text, resize media, and upload posts from program artists.
• Ensure all content uploaded to the program website and social media outlets is congruent with program goals and complements existing ZERO1 online presence.
• Help author, design, and upload posts with original content that engages target audiences while meeting program objectives.
• Utilize blog posts and social media to showcase up to 20 community art projects in 4 different overseas locations and allow staff and program participants to tell impactful, engaging stories.
• Integrate content uploads to website with existing social media platforms, and potentially create new platforms, including but not limited to Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, and Vimeo.
• Organize web content via tags and archives to be most useful to audience while maintaining structure that aligns with program elements
• Develop and maintain an ongoing system of reporting website engagement metrics.
• Assist with facilitating online interactions amongst artists, international communities, international arts organizations, and the greater global audience.
• Work with the ZERO1 Program Manager to ensure acceptable and timely delivery of project objectives.
• Work with the ZERO1 Marketing Manager to keep the “voice” of ZERO1 consistent throughout the new web posts.

Qualifications/Expectations
• Motivated, creative, positive, focused, proactive, and responsive
• Strong verbal communication skills, including impeccable grammar, spelling, vocabulary, as well as keen sense of audience
• Expertise in basic computer skills and utilities, including MS Office and Google Drive.
• Knowledge of writing for the web, including effective structure, layout, use of hyperlinks, use of multimedia, and seamless integration with other virtual platforms
• Demonstrated fluency in general mechanics of websites and social media platforms
• Reliable, proactive team player with thorough and precise attention to detail
• Ability to work with others in a close mentorship setting, and also to work independently and proactively
• Expertise in or willingness to learn basic video editing skills
• Interest in contemporary / new media art, international creative exchange, public diplomacy, and community development
• Experience in Adobe Creative Suite, Interactive Design and Usability
• Previous experience with HTML5, Drupal 7.0 a plus
