Painting Intermedia. The Department of Fine Arts at Washington State University, Pullman Washington, invites an interdisciplinary artist with a strong interest in painting as a creative medium expanding into other areas of Fine Arts. Top candidates will have active exhibition record. The full-time tenure track position is to be filled at the Assistant Professor level and will begin August 16, 2015.
Required qualifications: MFA or equivalent by June 1, 2015, a progressive approach to artistic practice, and 1 year college level teaching experience as teacher of record. The successful candidate will have an engagement with contemporary art practice, critical theory, and evidence of working collaboratively.

Preferred qualifications: Evidence of building an active exhibition record is preferred. Candidates will need to have evidence of interdisciplinary thinking and making with a strong knowledge of traditional painting skills and techniques. Candidates will demonstrate the ability to push painting into other areas that may include installation, object-making, performance and time-based media. Demonstration of a proven ability to coordinate Painting area and assist with oversight of other areas is also preferred.
Duties include teaching four classes per year in Painting and Intermedia with the ability to teach across contemporary methodology branching into other areas. Successful hires will need to have the potential to serve as the painting area coordinator and ability to work with the faculty in other areas to reinforce interdisciplinary dialogue. Other responsibilities include graduate and undergraduate advising. Candidate will work with faculty to develop a progressive undergraduate and graduate program that will serve all areas in the Fine Arts Department.
