The Department of Art at Sam Houston State University invites applications for a full time, tenure track position of Assistant Professor in the Computer Animation Program. The position will begin in August 2015. Applicants must have earned an MFA in Computer Animation or a related discipline to be eligible for this position. Ideal candidates will have the ability to teach introductory and intermediate level courses in 2D and or 3D animation. The candidate should have experience using Adobe Flash and Autodesk Maya, and should be familiar with both PC and MAC operating systems. Other desired qualifications include expertise in 3D Character Animation, and 2D and or 3D interactive multimedia. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level and industry experience is preferred.

One of the largest programs in the Department of Art, Computer Animation offers a BFA within a curriculum that emphasizes a range of approaches to the discipline of animation. In 2014, the SHSU Computer Animation Program was included in Animation Career Review's top 100 animation schools in the country, and was ranked #6 in the Southwest.

Candidates must possess an MFA or terminal degree in a related field and demonstrate outstanding potential in research and/or creative activity. Teaching experience at the undergraduate level is strongly preferred. Industry experience is also an asset.
