EDITING: THE LANGUAGE OF EMOTION

A cut can make us laugh or cry. It can make us sick or angry, happy or sad. A film's editing can take us on an emotional journey into our inner selves.

Through hands-on workshops and practical demonstrations, instructor Stephen Philipson will explore the theory and practice of editing feature dramas. Over three days, participants will learn how to combine compelling scenes into compelling sequences, and pace stories effectively over two hours. They will practice cutting for different genres (including comedy and documentary), and hone their skills by crafting sequences from supplied footage.

Participants must be able to use Final Cut Pro.
