LES-based artist seeks visual poets / artists to participate in a public + online art project in the Lower East Side and Essex Market.

Work will be created using my visual poetry app, Poetics, to create texts, photos, and stories connected to LES culture. The process can collaborative, solo, and/or in interaction with the public.

The project is tied into the 75th Anniversary of Essex Market and Lower East Side History Month, supported by the Essex Market, NYEDC and the Artists Alliance.

Sessions creating work will be mostly street-based and experimental, occurring between May 15 and 30th.

A custom Tumblr has been created where a curated collection of the work created will be shown in realtime. The various organizations involved will be highlighting and reposting some of this work.

Courtesy of Essex Market, the Poetics app is free for the month of May. You can download a copy here:

INTERESTED?

Please send a link to your work, a short introduction about your interest, contact info, and any questions.

Ideally your background includes text, writing and visual skills, particularly photographic, use of apps and tech, with an ability to channel interaction with people into dynamic compositions of text + image.

A few notes: an iPhone is required. Unfortunately, participation is unpaid…there was a major budget cut. Coffee and food is on me.
