WEIRD, FANTASTIC, and SUBLIME - Live Performances of Speculative Writing

"Weird, Fantastic, and Sublime" is a live literary menagerie of New England area writers of speculative fiction. The cloistered world of books is transformed into intimate theater as authors perform their works in a showcase of vibrant local, independent, and small press storytelling. Connect directly with your next great read in a galaxy far, far beyond classics and bestsellers, whether it's a poetry chapbook about Desi superheroes, a punk zine about transgender time travelers, or a sprawling epic of richly woven tales about A.I.'s in love. Books, comics, and zines for sale, costumes encouraged.

Selected participants will be PAID $50 for the day of the event (5/10/15), which is part of the Boston ArtWeek festival. Submissions through the website are due 3/31/15 at 11:59pm EST. http://asciiflower.com/

You do not necessarily have to be connected to New England, but you do have to be able to get yourself to Boston.

We'd love to see new forms under a broad umbrella of speculative fiction, including but not limited to:

* Weird Twitter performance.
* Mass interactive scripted games, Twines, video and audio elements to storytelling.
* Weird lit and alt lit with supernatural elements.
* Humorous and or personal pieces with speculative elements.
* Cyber witchy stuff.
* Generative writing.
* LGBTQ and POC authors and stories.

The venue has full theater audio, lighting, and video/projection abilities. The quality of the writing matters above all, but don't be afraid to push the boundaries of what it means to do a "reading". Sex and gore is fine, the venue is 18+.
