Les Oeufs

exhibition from SARA A TREMBLAY

March 19to April 7, 2009
Opening: March 19, 2009 at 5pm

Family, as we know it today is formed by two people; a couple, a core which is surrounded by children and grandchildren that gravitate around it.Being part of a generation where broken families are more common than the nuclear family, Sara A.Tremblay observes the possible existence of a solid core. Her reflections on the contemporary family ideal are observed in her own relationship, through her own history and through her hesitant desire to form a family of her own.

In this exploratory project, she illustrates love and familial relationships by capturing subjective images of a family – parents, grandparents, a brother, a sister and two lovers. In the exhibition Les OEufs , Sara visually creates bonds between members of this family. By including images of a diverse nature to a collection of portraits, she creates a reciprocal relationship between images that establish a forum for the viewer to contemplate these connections.

For the past few years, Sara A.Tremblay's photographic work has dealt with people and their relations with others. Through the juxtaposition of portraits, objects and landscapes, she explores the theme of relationships with poetic and aesthetic imagery. She believes beauty, both in the figurative and lyrical sense, is necessary to the viewer's appreciation and understanding of her work. That is why she thrives to produce photographs which are as emotionally significant as they are visually striking.

Sara A.Tremblay has a DEC in photography from Cégep de Matane (Canada) and BFA, Major in Photograhy, from Concordia University (Montreal, Canada). She lives and works in Montréal.
