Pro Arts is now accepting applications from curators for 2 x 2 Solos, an exhibition series commissioning new work from four accomplished emerging artists based in the Oakland/Bay Area.

2 x 2 Solos serves as a significant platform for the production of, and engagement with, art in Oakland. Supported, in part, by the Andy Warhol Foundation for the Visual Arts and East Bay Community Foundation, the program establishes important professional opportunities, networks and critical visibility for emerging artists, while supporting artists who assume risk and pose challenges through their work. Participation in the program is based on nomination by the top art professionals in the region. From over 100 nominations, four artists are selected based on reviews by a curatorial panel and studio visits with independent curators.

Four curators will be selected for the project. Curators will, in collaboration with Pro Arts independent curatorial committee, finalize artist selections based on studio visits held in late October 2014. Selected curators will then produce a solo exhibition in Pro Arts' downtown Oakland gallery space. This includes overseeing the production of new work, coordinating installation and layout of work, writing a curatorial statement, and finding a regional arts writer to produce an essay for the exhibition catalogue.

Final exhibitions will take place at Pro Arts in August - October, 2015. An $500 honorarium is provided.
