one reason

met a woman, a writer. just briefly, an acquaintance really. i
remember she could beat anyone at scrabble. she talked like an
ordinary person but laid down all these 50 point point words.

so one day we she slipped me a note. she didn't want anyone else to
know but she had cancer, had been doing chemo for a year and decided
to stop. these were her last weeks. but she wanted to thank me for
cheering her up. that was really powerful for me.

we never know what good/bad we're doing. but we could be making
somebody's last days a little better. sometimes we just make a
stranger's bad day a little more bearable. all we can do is keep
making things (art?) constantly. mass produce helpful booby traps.
