The School of Design, Victoria University of Wellington (NZ) is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic design educator to join the interdisciplinary Culture+Context programme as a full-time, permanent Lecturer or Senior Lecturer. The Culture+Context programme is allied with the School of Design's other specialisations, which include Industrial Design, Media Design, and Computer Graphics. Differing from these specialisations, which are structured in accordance with established professional practices, Culture+Context has been developed to address the expanding role of design and the increased engagement of design methods across a diversity of disciplines, industries and cultural sectors.

The Culture+Context programme has a varied research and teaching agenda, encompassing creative and design practices through to scientific and social science methodologies. With the growing development and implementation of new technologies, materials, and media in design, Culture+Context similarly is looking to expand its teaching, practice and research base in the following areas: Social Design, Critical Design, Systems Design, Ubiquitous Design, and Digital Design and Craft.

The successful candidate will be expected to deliver high quality studio and seminar teaching in 200-400 level courses, to maintain a robust research platform including postgraduate supervision, and to contribute service to the School and the University. Candidates with a PhD or terminal degree in Design or a relevant field and with a record of high quality research outputs will be given preference for the position.
